Who doesn’t love this time of year? It’s a time to celebrate all that we’re thankful for; family, friends, community, creativity, and of course, wine. Our amazing network of studios has helped us to positively impact many communities, both big and small, and here at Wine & Design Headquarters, we’re most thankful to that this year. We know we couldn’t continue to do what we love without the support of customers, and we’re happy to know that we can work together to improve our communities through creativity and philanthropy. Scroll down to learn more about how Wine & Design can partner with you to give back and show thanks. We’ve also got information on some great holiday deals and gift ideas. Honoring Our Veterans “This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave” – Elmer Davis Whether it be a studio based in a military town, a Paint It Forward event benefiting those who serve, or even a studio owner who is either married to or is a veteran themselves, we at Wine & Design strive to support those who have fought for our country in any way we can. We thank those who have served our country and to those who continue to fight for our freedom! Veteran and Wilmington, NC studio owner, Tom Barber, was featured by the International Franchising Association this past Veterans Day. Read why he thinks franchising helps veterans (see left). Congrats and thank you, Tom!
Artist Spotlight: Anna Lisa Nieman Congrats to Wine & Design artist and newlywed Anna Lisa! We’ve asked her all about her journey with Wine & Design, how she met her husband and her special day. How long have you been with W&D? I’ve been with W&D since 2013! I was SO nervous when I interviewed, but have since worked up to my dream job as lead artist and Art Buzz Kids program director!
What’s your favorite part of W&D? I love helping people unlock the inner creativity that they don’t think is there. I love guiding people as they try something so entirely out of their comfort zone and actually succeed at it. I love watching people come back to the studio over and over because they’ve fallen in love with painting. I love W&D because I get to believe in people for a living, even when they don’t believe in themselves. What other job lets you make beautiful memories for people AND paint? I’m also crazy passionate about our Art Buzz Kids program. The kids blow me away with their endless creativity every day.
How did you and your hubby meet? My hubby Michael and I met online, when a friend of mine set up a dating profile for me as a joke. His was the only email I answered. We eventually met up at the NC Art Museum, where even though I geeked out about art the whole time, sparks flew. The rest was history!
Most memorable part of the wedding? Everything about our wedding was handmade…the veil, floral crown, flowers, everything. I couldn’t find any shoes that I liked, so I painted a boring pair of heels to look like a mismatched Starry Night (something we paint often at W&D!). Wearing mismatched, hand painted shoes on my wedding day was perfectly me!
